Special Canada Day Event
This Year’s Canada Day Celebrations is a Partnership between the District of Sooke and the Sooke Lions Club with a special painting event by the Sooke Arts Council.
One Brush
One Color
One Stroke
This year commemorates Sooke’s “20th Anniversary of Incorporation”.
From Councillor Brenda Parkinson;
“There are so many fun and exciting events being planned. We have booked the Princesses from “Enchanted Fables”, the headliner is “knacker’s yard” Traditional Celtic Folk Band, Poet Laureate Wendy Morton will create a CanadaDay Poem and the list goes on.”
The project that Councillor Brenda Parkinson and Members of the Arts Council and friends will be working on is an Art Collaboration with all the Residents of Sooke.
There will be two blank (white) canvases for the artwork.
The size of each blank canvas will be 60” x 40”.
The painting on the left was painted using this method.
THE RULES FOR PARTICIPATING:
1. One brush
2. One colour
3. One stroke
Two amazing pieces of art will be created by the people of Sooke and each completed canvas will be displayed in the Sooke Council Chambers.
WOULLD YOU LIKE TO HELP?
We need spare brushes- any sizes, and any paint you may have. Drop off at Spectrum Digital, 6693 Sooke Road by Murray Rd.
